In short

Peter van der Geer started his professional debating carreer in 1988 bij founding Holland Debate. Travelling throug US and UK he discussed with the best debaters and coaches at various universities how to educate and spread debate on the European continent.

This lead to a wealth of initiatives at all levels of schools, debating tournaments, debating societies at universities and professional training for companies and governmental bodies. In 1990 Peter was the first Dutch participant at the World Debating Championships. After 3 years of pioneering, Peter worked 7 years for Exxon Mobil in the capacity of spokesman, communications manager and project leader both at home and aborad. In 1995 he founded Debat.NL and Debat.EU, a company that serves more than 500 clients all over Europe. 

Peter has masters degree in classics and law, he studied in Leiden, Harvard and Cambridge. He live both in Holland, Belgium and the US. He is married to the Flemish Myriam and has a daughter Liselotte, who had her first debate at the age of three.
